Hudson Docs
Connective Tissues and End of Signs are two pieces that work in parallel to tell a story about the Hudson River. End of Signs (April 2023) and Connective Tissues (December 2022) are part of an ongoing project I am referring to as "Hudson Docs," where I am telling the same story repeatedly from different perspectives, through different voicing, in changing relationships to time, using different representational strategies.
These pieces are structured to disrupt a chronological, single-perspective narrative retelling of history. The structure functionally critiques habits of popular narrativizing: complexities simplified, details left out, and threads of persistent implications not traced.
Documentation of live performance of both pieces is available here, and End of Signs is available on CD-R from No Rent Records with an accompanying booklet on the background, compositional language, process, and scores.
